What is a Tasbeh app?
A tasbeh (تسبيح), also written as “tasbeeh” or “tesbih,” is a string of prayer beads used by Muslims to count repetitions of dhikr — short phrases of remembrance of Allah. Traditionally made of 33 or 99 beads, the physical tasbeh has been a companion to Muslims in prayer for centuries.
This free digital tasbeh app brings that same practice to your smartphone. Whether you are on the go, at work, or sitting at home, you can count your dhikr with a simple tap — or hands-free using your voice.
Why use a digital tasbeh?
Many Muslims prefer a digital tasbeh counter for daily use because it is always with you, never runs out of beads, and can track multiple sessions. Unlike a physical tasbeh, the digital version can alert you when you reach your target count and keep a log of completed sessions.
The voice-activation feature in this app is particularly useful during times when your hands are occupied — while cooking, walking, or driving.
The Sunnah of tasbeh after prayer
It is narrated that after each of the five daily prayers, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recommended reciting SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, and AllahuAkbar 33 times — completing 99 repetitions, followed by La ilaha illa Allah. This app’s default target of 33 reflects this blessed practice.
Is it permissible to use a digital tasbeh?
Most contemporary Islamic scholars permit the use of digital tasbeh counters. The purpose of the tasbeh — remembering Allah — is what matters, not the instrument. Many scholars note that anything that helps a Muslim remember Allah more consistently is a benefit, whether it is beads, a counter ring, or a smartphone app.
